Every emerging artist faces the challenge of juggling personal life and creative pursuits. For SUNTIMEE—or Trey, as friends and family still call him—that push and pull is a constant reality. He cheerfully admits he hasn’t found a perfect formula for balance. Instead, he’s learning to accept the ebb and flow, maintaining parts of his day as Trey and others as the passionate artist known as SUNTIMEE. Often, the lines blur because his songs are deeply personal. “My music career is my personal life,” he quips, acknowledging how his creativity has become a companion in every corner of his world.
A Day in the Life of Trey
When he’s not in the recording studio or performing live, SUNTIMEE dives into his other passion: YouTube and anime. He runs two channels—one dedicated to general anime content and the other more focused on gaming. This “nerdy” side, as he calls it, keeps him busy with writing scripts, editing, designing thumbnails, and researching all things anime. Outside of that, he’s often helping care for his handicapped parents or linking up with friends to spark new musical ideas. Between these commitments and his creative ventures, he jokes about living a “boring” life, but there’s no shortage of productivity behind the scenes.
Finding Inspiration in Beats and Demos
For SUNTIMEE, music inspiration can strike from anywhere—a random beat, a remembered verse, or an old unreleased demo. He combats writer’s block by immersing himself in a steady stream of music—be it from fellow artists or the fire instrumentals he stumbles upon online. Even listening to his own forgotten demos can spark excitement. “Sometimes I surprise myself,” he says, smiling. “It’s like, ‘Wow, I wrote this?’ It’s a good reminder of what I’m capable of.”
Lifestyle Shifts and Frugality
He’s still in the early phases of his career, but SUNTIMEE admits that studio sessions and marketing require serious investment. Balancing finances means living more frugally, even if his day-to-day hasn’t changed drastically otherwise. “I’ve always been a homebody,” he explains. “But I know that if I want to tour and spread my music across the country, I’ll need to step out of my comfort zone and hit the road at some point.”
Staying Grounded with Family
In a world filled with stage names and social media followers, SUNTIMEE remains tethered to his roots by regularly reaching out to his family. Whether it’s calling his dad and grandparents or visiting his mom—who can’t talk on the phone anymore—he prioritizes these relationships. “They remind me of who I am when you strip away the nicknames and branding,” he shares. Time spent with his mother, in particular, blocks out all other distractions. “When I’m with her, my phone doesn’t even exist,” he says.
Authenticity and Introversion
Navigating the public eye can be daunting for an introverted artist like SUNTIMEE. Yet, authenticity remains a non-negotiable. “I don’t know how to do anything besides be myself,” he insists. Sure, there’s pressure to be popular or widely accepted, but he’s known for a long time that he won’t appeal to everyone—and he’s perfectly fine with that. “I’ll just keep being me, and so far, it’s gotten me pretty far,” he says confidently.
Health Above All
Amid the hustle, SUNTIMEE takes breaks from social media to protect his mental health. Though it might hamper digital visibility, he believes protecting his well-being is paramount. He also commits to regular workouts, at least three times a week, a habit shaped by watching both parents suffer strokes. “I want to perform well into my 50s,” he says. “Look at guys like Snoop and Busta Rhymes—they’re still killing it. That’s what I’m aiming for, too.”
The Journey Ahead
With a unique blend of anime enthusiasm, musical obsession, and unwavering family ties, SUNTIMEE (Trey) is crafting a path that’s distinctly his own. He’s a testament to the idea that you don’t have to confine yourself to one passion—be it music, gaming, or otherwise—and that staying true to who you are is often the greatest success of all. As he continues to refine his sound and gather fans along the way, one thing’s for certain: the balance may never be perfect, but the journey is entirely his—and that’s what truly counts.
