In 2018, Pooyeá embarked on a journey that would redefine his life—and the underground music scene. Dissatisfied with the repetitive beats dominating the industry at the time, he took matters into his own hands. “The music industry back then was boring, over-saturated, and the beats were redundant as [expletive],” he says. Inspired by Atlanta’s underground plugg sound, he began creating his own beats, finding a unique voice in the process. By 2020, he felt his work had reached his standards and started sharing it. Then, in 2023, Pooyeá took it to the next level by stepping behind the mic—and he’s been on the rise ever since.
When asked to define his artistry, Pooyeá sums it up in six letters: **P.O.O.Y.E.Á.** “All me. Can’t compare nor contrast it. Just true, authentic Pooyeá,” he explains. His music, which he describes as spiritual, introspective, innovative, and *turnt*, reflects every facet of his personality.
Unlike most, Pooyeá doesn’t write his lyrics. “This is straight from my soul,” he reveals. His creative process is deeply immersive, with his mind, body, and spirit melding into the beats. Especially when he’s rapping over his own production, the synergy becomes a form of meditation and healing. “I let what I’m feeling and thinking come out, then my freestyle ability takes care of the rest.”
Influenced by legends like Chief Keef, Summrs, G Herbo, Lil Tony Official, and the ATL/Southern Underground scene, Pooyeá combines their energy with his unique flair. His favorite song, *Intertwine*—available on all platforms—perfectly encapsulates his multifaceted artistry. “It’s a representation of the different dynamics of Pooyeá, especially given what I was experiencing at the time.”
For Pooyeá, music is more than just sound—it's life itself. “Life is an art form, and this is poetry in motion. The only thing that could block me is death.”
Through his music, Pooyeá invites listeners to explore his depth and authenticity. “This isn’t for surface-level brains or blissful ignorance. There are so many ways I express myself, but you’ll only understand if you’re a passionate listener who appreciates art.”
