Novaphasefive: A Unique Sound, A Journey Through the Dark

Written by Alexandria Anglade

Novaphasefive, an emerging male music artist, traces his inspiration back to his childhood. At just five years old, he would stay up late, watching talk shows and channels like MTV, which introduced him to a world of new music videos and artists. "There was something so alluring about it all, the scenes, the different genres," Novaphasefive says, recalling how captivated he was by the diversity of music and its visual storytelling. This early exposure to music videos planted the seed for what would become his lifelong passion.

For Novaphasefive, creating music is an intensely personal experience. "My process is a deep internal reclusiveness," he explains. "It’s about tapping into emotions, usually the darker ones, within the isolation of my room. The atmosphere, the low red lighting—it helps me explore the beats in my emails from producers or on YouTube until I find a sound that fits my ideas." This introspective method allows him to connect with his emotions and express them authentically through his music. Each song he creates is intentionally lyrical, and Novaphasefive continues to build on his previous work, ensuring that his music evolves while maintaining a deep personal connection.

Describing his sound as "undefinable" yet deeply resonant, Novaphasefive embraces genre-blending, which allows his creativity to flourish across various musical styles. "It's a paradox," he laughs. "I mix so many genres that it's hard to pin down. My influences are diverse: The Weeknd, Bring Me The Horizon, Kid Cudi, Kanye West, Sewerperson, and Paramore. Almost all genres and sub-genres peak my creativity. I like to explore everything."

Since starting his musical journey in 2020, Novaphasefive has focused on one overarching message: "The beauty of the dark." He explains that his music is not just about exploring the shadows but about showing that no one is ever truly alone. "Even when the mind wanders to depths we find unpleasant, you can always overcome those emotions and nurture yourself. The dark doesn't have to be a place of despair—it can be a place of growth and self-love."

As an up-and-coming artist, Novaphasefive has faced numerous challenges, particularly in trusting engagements with engineers and producers. "It's been eons of conquering and rising," he says. One of his biggest obstacles has been stepping out of his introverted ways to connect with others, especially his listeners. "It's been about getting out of my shell and learning to network. I want to get into my listeners' minds, understand their perspectives. We are all artists, and I'm just always learning, growing, and evolving."

Although performing live remains a challenge for Novaphasefive, he looks forward to it. "I’m definitely looking forward to live performances, even though it's going to be a battle for me," he shares. His journey is far from over, and he embraces the idea of facing these challenges head-on.

For Novaphasefive, the rewards of being an artist are many. "Deeper connections with my family, stronger bonds with my friends, and new interactions with other artists. It’s no longer just client and clientele—it’s about becoming individuals bonded through art," he says. "Acquiring management to help navigate the tricky moments has been invaluable too. There are so many rewarding moments, it's hard to pinpoint one over another."

Looking ahead, Novaphasefive is excited about what the future holds. "In the next few years, or even this year alone, I’m focused on grabbing a stage and exploring the genres and sounds I've been curious to master or recreate," he explains. "I’m also eager to see what kind of instrumental sound ‘Novaphasefive’ will create with the right tools in front of him." His journey as an artist is just beginning, and the path ahead is filled with endless possibilities. One thing is certain—his passion for music will continue to drive him to explore, create, and evolve.
