From the Dominican Republic to the Studio: KENNZ0’s Story

KENNZ0 has always felt that music was more than just background noise. Growing up in the Dominican Republic, he was constantly drawn to sound and rhythm, even before he realized it would become a career path. By the time he reached his teenage years, the pull toward creating was undeniable. Although he initially wanted to begin recording at 15 or 16, he decided to wait and let his mind grow. At 17, he finally stepped into the studio and began to take music seriously. Looking back, he admits that not capturing those early freestyles is a regret, but it only pushes him harder today to keep evolving.
When it comes to creating, KENNZ0 describes his process as spontaneous. Inspiration can strike at any moment, whether it is the urge to speak on his life or simply the feeling of wanting to make music again. His track “7AM” from STORY OF KEN came about after a casual conversation with his engineer Byron at ROK10 Studios about morning routines. That talk sparked an idea, which later turned into a full song. Sometimes it is planned, but often, it is instinct.
KENNZ0 takes pride in developing a sound that feels distinctly his own. While he finds inspiration in artists like Juice WRLD and Lucki, he explains that their role was more about influencing how he thinks than shaping his style directly. He pulls the “good pieces” of what he learns from others but remains dedicated to building something unique that no one else can replicate.
The messages in his songs shift with his emotions. Some tracks are born from boredom and the need to create, while others come from moments of overthinking and spilling his heart out. Every release has its purpose, whether it’s lighthearted or deeply personal.
Like many young artists, his biggest challenge has been overcoming his own doubts. Questions like “is this the best I’ve got?” often creep in, but he meets those moments head-on. He recalls experiencing writer’s block after writing just one song early in his career. Now, he can push himself through multiple tracks in one session, proving to himself that his creativity has no set limit.
The most rewarding part of KENNZ0’s journey has been the genuine support from strangers across the world. Messages from fans telling him not to quit or praising tracks like “I FEEL FANTASTIC” reaffirm that his music is connecting. One particular message from a listener calling his music “insane” came during a time when he was questioning everything. For him, it felt like confirmation to keep going.
