DelSol: The Artistic Vision Behind Music and Self-Discovery

Written by Alexandria Anglade

DelSol is an artist whose creative process is as dynamic and varied as the music he produces. Whether he’s playing a few chords that spark inspiration, hearing a melody in his head, or capturing a bass line that guides the rest of the arrangement, his approach to creating music is fluid and diverse. “I’m a multi-instrumentalist and a self-produced artist,” he explains. “When inspiration comes, I try to work very fast to capture all the ideas as fast as possible.” For DelSol, the process is like an abstract sketchbook of ideas that flow from his mind into reality, allowing him to explore the depths of his musical talents.

As a perfectionist, DelSol finds it difficult to call a song “done.” “I’ve learned that a song will never be ‘done,’ but it can feel ‘complete,’” he says. His hypercritical artistic side often urges him to tweak and refine, but he’s come to realize that the magic in music is found in the imperfections. “The subtle blemishes, the innocuous sounds, those first couple of takes — that’s where the real art lies.” In a world where music often feels homogenized, DelSol strives to go against the grain, embracing the unique qualities that make his music stand out.

The themes DelSol returns to in his music are deeply personal and universal. His work often reflects stories of love, sex, self-reflection, political and cultural analysis, and the powerful themes of forgiveness and redemption. “Music to me is a spiritual matter,” he says, noting that it is always his intention to inspire others. “We either have the choice to use our art to discourage or inspire others, and I’ll always choose the latter.”

Staying motivated in the ever-evolving music industry can be challenging, but DelSol has found a way to focus on what truly matters to him — the music itself. “The music industry is just a business model run by a select few that maybe haven’t ever picked up an instrument or written a song themselves,” he observes. Rather than getting caught up in the business side, he centers his energy on maintaining artistic integrity and originality. “My inspiration simply comes from the divine light that’s in every single one of us,” he says. His focus is on documenting his experiences through music, rather than conforming to industry norms.

Looking back on his journey, DelSol reflects on a pivotal time in his career when he was searching for his sound. “There was a time when I didn’t know whether to be just a songwriter/vocalist or a musician first,” he recalls. After moving to Phoenix, AZ to pursue music full-time during the pandemic, he faced unexpected challenges. But in those challenges, he discovered the full scope of his talents across multiple instruments. “I learned to embrace all my influences and blend them together into my own unique, original sound.” This experience taught him that sometimes, the most valuable lessons come from the unexpected twists in life.

The most rewarding part of being a music artist, for DelSol, is the act of sharing his vision with the world. “It’s a very vulnerable thing to do. It’s like standing naked in front of a room trying to impress everyone,” he says. But he’s come to realize that embracing his imperfections and flaws is essential for connecting with others. “At some point, you have to lay all your sensitivities on the line in order to share that vision, hoping that someone else can gain some sort of inspiration from it and express their own vision.” DelSol believes in the transformative power of music to awaken the “true self” in all of us, and that’s what drives him to continue creating.

Through his music, DelSol is not only documenting his journey but also offering a space for listeners to reflect, connect, and be inspired. As he continues to develop his unique sound, his commitment to authenticity and artistic expression will undoubtedly resonate with fans and fellow musicians alike.
