Colorful, Creative, and Free: The World of Eddie Lenz

Written by Alexandria Anglade

From the very beginning, music has held a permanent place in Eddie Lenz’s life, shaping him long before he knew what songwriting meant. It has been a constant presence since the earliest moments of his childhood. He remembers thinking about melodies and rhythms every single day, even before he understood what songwriting really meant. At fourteen, he decided to try writing his first song and instantly felt a deeper pull. The process allowed him to express how he felt and create something that others could connect to. That early spark grew into a passion he now pursues with intention and heart, driven by the belief that music can make people feel understood.

Eddie’s creative process is fluid and natural. Sometimes he starts with beats and instrumentals, exploring different sounds until something clicks. Other days, inspiration arrives in unexpected moments. A cadence might hit him while he is driving, grabbing coffee, or working out. When that happens, lyrics flow without force, and only then does he build the beat around the emotion of the words. For Eddie, authenticity comes from allowing ideas to appear on their own. He believes the most raw and emotional music is created when nothing is forced and every part of the song comes from a real moment.

Music is also a form of release. Eddie sees it as a place where any emotion can live freely. Heartbreak, excitement, confusion, joy, sadness. All of it has a home in sound. He recalls a time he was in Dallas talking to a girl who lived in New York. After months of connection, she told him she had found someone else. The news hit hard, and he poured those feelings into a song titled “See You Tomorrow.” That moment reminded him that no matter where life takes him, an artist always has the ability to turn experience into art. Every memory, every disappointment, and every moment of hope becomes part of the canvas.

Eddie describes his identity with three words: Creative, Colorful, and Free. Creativity is the core of who he is, not just in music but also in fashion, filmmaking, and everything he touches. Colorful reflects his love for taking different approaches, trying things he has never done before, and exploring new styles. Free represents the way he views life and art. To Eddie, being free means allowing yourself to explore unfamiliar territory without worrying about how others think things should be done. It means trusting curiosity and pushing yourself into new forms of expression.

One of his most surprising habits appears when he feels stuck during a song. Instead of forcing new ideas, he revisits older work and pieces different verses together until the song finds its shape. When writing about love or heartbreak, he often imagines new scenarios and new settings to create emotional depth. He also likes to pour a cup of wine while writing those songs because it helps him settle into the feeling and open up to the story.

A dream collaboration for Eddie would be working with A$AP Rocky. Rocky’s influence shows up not only in Eddie’s music but also in his fashion and creative direction. To Eddie, Rocky represents the power of trusting your vision, even when others do not understand it. That confidence helped shape Eddie’s mindset as an artist.

Above all, Eddie believes that staying comfortable limits growth. He knows that being an artist means trying new things, even when they feel unfamiliar. He encourages people to embrace what makes them different instead of hiding from judgment. There will always be people who think you are strange or out of place, so you might as well be yourself. Being basic is boring. True growth comes from stepping forward, taking risks, following curiosity, and choosing what brings joy.
