BLK SHEEP’s journey into music began with a spark of inspiration from seeing and hearing other influential artists. Their stories resonated with him on a personal level, motivating him to test the waters of music as an art form. What started as a pastime in late high school and early college quickly evolved into something deeper. Over time, music became the soundtrack to his life, each song serving as a reflection of his personal growth, struggles, and triumphs.
As a multidisciplinary artist, he brings the same curiosity and passion to music as he does to all his creative endeavors, with the drive to push his career to the highest level possible.
When it comes to his process, BLK SHEEP thrives on melody. He produces lyrics over beats crafted by other producers, allowing the emotion of the sound to guide him.
From there, he creates a melody as the backbone of the song, layering lyrics, recording, mixing, and mastering until the vision is fully realized.
Describing his sound is no easy task. He fuses elements of pop melody, baroque rap, and tread punk with a spiritual undertone, calling it Christian Baroque Tread Punk Pop. It is not religious in the traditional sense but deeply spiritual and personal. His music is designed to be intense, authentic, and unforgettable.
Authenticity is the core of his artistry. He believes in conveying truth above all else, no matter how unconventional or polarizing that may be. This pursuit of truth has not come without challenges. BLK SHEEP openly criticizes the Connecticut music scene where he started, citing rejection, gatekeeping, and lack of culture as obstacles. In his view, too many artists mimic popular underground sounds without adding originality or purpose.
Venues often overlooked new artists in favor of cliques and favoritism, leaving little room for young talent to shine. In response, he created Uprise Showcase, a platform designed to give struggling independent artists the chance to perform and express themselves. While it eventually disbanded due to internal conflicts, the experience cemented his commitment to making space for genuine artistry.
Performing remains one of BLK SHEEP’s greatest passions. He describes the rush as a high on life, with nothing matching the energy of seeing people connect with his music and add it to their own playlists. That connection fuels his drive to continue growing.
Looking ahead, BLK SHEEP sets his goals with faith and conviction. He strives to become the biggest artist he can be, whether in the country or beyond, with the belief that his purpose is guided by something greater than himself. In his own words: God willing, in Jesus name, Amen.
