Angel Aoba has been surrounded by music since childhood. His father was a club-level DJ in Seattle during the 90s and early 2000s, and Angel grew up watching him make mixes and engineer songs. Unlike his father, who focused on production, Angel discovered his voice through singing. He began in middle school when he joined the choir and quickly realized how powerful music could be for him. Singing gave him comfort, and he has carried that feeling ever since. Publishing his music became a way to share that same uplifting energy with others. For Angel, the hope is that someone listening will feel understood and comforted through his experiences.
When it comes to creating, Angel’s process is rooted in everyday life. A single line might come to him in a random moment, which he quickly notes down or even shares on his personal Twitter. From there, he finds a beat from his producers that matches the emotion of the line. Tender moments call for mellow or melancholy instrumentals, while braggadocious energy calls for something uptempo and exciting. His recent album highlights this range, with songs like “LIFELIGHT” capturing the mellow side and “LONG GONE SUMMER” showing his more energetic flair.
Angel defines his music as hyperpop, blending heavy autotune with inspirations from late 2000s and early 2010s pop alongside the influence of artists like Bladee. The result is a sound that feels fresh, experimental, and full of emotion. At its core, his message is clear: it is okay to feel what you feel. He wants listeners to know they have the power to change their situations and, above all, he wants his music to make people smile.
Despite his talent, Angel admits he struggles with self-doubt. He often hesitates to release music, second-guessing whether it sounds good enough. Encouragement from others reminds him that even when he doubts his work, it resonates with listeners and deserves to be heard. The strong reception to his recent project, ALL-STAR ANGEL, has only fueled his motivation. The collaboration with kels! on “LONG GONE SUMMER” pushed his music to new heights, adding a level of energy and steadiness that he values deeply. Seeing the support and growth in streams has been both humbling and inspiring.
Looking ahead, Angel Aoba is already planning his next steps. He aims to release another album by the end of this year or early next year. While the idea of live performances excites him, he prefers to stay local for now, avoiding the homesickness that comes with extensive touring. Angel knows the journey is just beginning, and he is committed to working harder, shining brighter, and continuing to give his fans music that speaks to the heart.
