“AFF1RMATIONS” Marks a New Chapter for JARVAH

Written by Alexandria Anglade

JARVAH does not make music to decorate the moment. She makes it to tell the truth.

At the core of her sound is what she calls emotionally honest music. These are songs that speak plainly about feelings many people are taught to mute. Anger, happiness, confusion, despair, confidence, and self love are all present. Nothing is filtered or softened. Instead, JARVAH creates a space where every emotion is allowed to exist at once. Sonically, that honesty lives inside a style she defines as Soul Fusion. Old school hip hop drums, jazz textures, classic neo soul, smooth R&B, and touches of afrobeats blend together naturally. These are not genre switches but emotional shifts. Her goal is simple. She wants listeners to feel seen.

Music was always calling her, but anxiety kept her at a distance for much of her life. That changed after years of intentional self work. In January 2025, everything aligned. A first studio visit with a friend became a turning point. JARVAH walked in with a quiet promise to herself. If this is what I am meant to do, it will feel right. It did. That day marked the shift from interest to intention, and the decision that followed reshaped her path entirely.

Her personal experiences deeply inform how she writes and performs. JARVAH has always been expressive and clear about what she feels and how she sees the world. In a culture that often rewards emotional distance, that kind of openness can feel disruptive. Music became the place where she could say what she was already thinking, just in a form people might be more willing to hear. Known for her eloquence and sharp analogies, songwriting comes naturally. Once she hears a beat, the words tend to arrive fully formed, as if they have been waiting.

Unlike many artists, most of JARVAH’s creative work happens at home. She writes and rehearses her songs in her room for days, sometimes weeks, before ever stepping into a studio. By the time she records, the focus is less on perfection and more on presence. She is learning to connect more deeply with the emotions behind the lyrics rather than rushing to complete a take. That process mirrors her artistic identity. Raw, unpolished, and real. The way she sings in the booth is meant to sound like how she sings when no one is watching.

That authenticity is especially present in her latest release, “AFF1RMATIONS,” dropping January 2nd. The song was written during a peak moment in her self love journey. One morning, she pressed play on the beat and instinctively sang the opening lines before putting pen to paper. The track became a reminder of who she is and a reflection of the woman she is actively becoming.

Sonically, “AFF1RMATIONS” introduces new complexity. A heavy, grounded drum pattern runs alongside a flowing violin melody, creating two distinct grooves listeners can sink into. While her previous releases explored heartbreak, this song turns inward. It centers self empowerment, confidence, and reclaiming worth. It is not a departure from her artistry but another layer of it.

What JARVAH hopes listeners take away is simple but powerful. She wants people to remember their beauty, their value, and their inherent worth, imperfections included. While the song touches on physical beauty, appearance is only the surface. The deeper message is about existence itself being enough. As a new year begins, her reminder is gentle but firm. Focus on becoming the best version of yourself, and measure growth only against who you were yesterday.
